26     The Final Leg of the Journey

On their return journey to the Antarctic, the humpback whales travel back down the east coastline of Australia, passing Cape Byron and opportunistically feeding on small fish; making do with this meagre diet until they reach the rich supply of krill further south. Eden on the south coast of NSW is one of the places they have been seen feeding during their southerly migration.
